A Note from the Founders

We started SARI Baby not because we had it all figured out, but because we didn’t. We were two new mums, both navigating those blurry, beautiful first weeks of motherhood, who just happened to give birth on the same day, four minutes apart, in the same hospital. We’d come from corporate careers, where we were known as each other’s ‘work wives’. What we didn’t know then was that our babies, born just a few doors down from one another, would mark the start of something much bigger.

SARI was born from a shared frustration. We were constantly disappointed by what was available for our babies when it came to food. Everything was either highly processed, shelf-stable for years (which felt wrong in itself), or bland and uninspiring. The so-called ‘kids menu’ was usually beige, fried and nutritionally empty. But we knew, from our own love of food and years of entertaining, that flavour matters and it can start from the very first bite.

Both of us are obsessed with food - fresh produce, real ingredients, and bold flavours. We were always exploring for the best produce. Janet opened a restaurant and has a deep love of Asian fusion. We’ve always believed that food is more than just fuel, it’s how we connect, how we celebrate, and how we care for the people we love. So when we became mums, we brought that same energy into our kitchens.

What we didn’t expect was how hard it would be to consistently serve those kinds of meals to our own kids - especially when the sleep deprivation hit and we were juggling life, work, and nap schedules. We knew there had to be a better way.

We also both lost our dads to cancer, and through that journey, we became even more aware of how much diet and nutrition can impact long-term health. We didn’t want to just feed our kids, we wanted to nourish them. And we wanted to help other families do the same, even on the days when the fridge is empty, the baby won’t nap, and dinner feels impossible.

With a paediatric dietitian and a chef by our side, we created SARI Baby: a range of gourmet baby and toddler meals made with real ingredients, no nasties, and over 50 different plant-based ingredients across the range. We wanted to change the story for kids - move away from the fried nuggets and chips, and help raise a generation of flavour loving, adventurous little eaters.

And the name? It’s close to our hearts. SARI is named after our firstborns Sienna and Ari, the two little humans who started it all.

Every SARI meal is made here in Melbourne and designed to give parents peace of mind and kids a love of food. We’re here to make mealtimes easier, healthier, and—dare we say it - more joyful. Because parenting is hard enough. Feeding your baby shouldn’t be.
